This wonderful stone holiday villa now avilable to rent in the
South of France near the Cote d’Azur and Grasse. Built in 2002 and
in the style of the original stone bergerie, or shepherd’s hut,
that was originally on the grounds in a ruined state. It is simply
and tastefully decorated throughout with character and style. The
mature terraced garden with olives and fruit trees is secluded and
provides total peace and tranquillity yet is close to gorgeous old
towns such as Grasse and Vence and the buzzing cities of Nice and
Antibes, providing the perfect break in the Cote d’Azur. This 200m2
traditional property is set over two floors, the entrance floor and
a lower garden level floor and is beautifully yet simply decorated
with white washed walls, exposed stonework and beams, terracotta
floor tiles and oak furniture throughout. There are three bedrooms
at the property. Entrance Level The master bedroom has a beautiful
wrought iron double bed with lovely long French windows and it’s
own private terrace with wrought iron table and chairs, perfect for
a quiet breakfast. There is an ensuite shower-room. Another double
bedroom has a it’s own (separate) shower room and separate wc and
looks out onto the side of the garden and the fields beyond. A
further bedroom, is up a short flight of stairs, also has a double
bed with a gorgeous antique-style bath and shower en suite,
overlooks the garden. Also upstairs is the laundry room with
washing machine and tumble dryer. Garden (lower) Level A flight of
stairs runs from the entrance hall directly down into the living
area, opening immediately onto a beautifully furnished cosy
‘sunken’ TV lounge with two sofas, TV, internet connection and
bookshelves. Two steps up, the main lounge has a cathedral ceiling
and beautiful Kilim rugs and cushions on a lovely comfortable sofa
and armchairs from which to enjoy music via the CD player or radio
. There are French doors from here onto the dining terrace, one end
of which is covered with a shady pergola and mulberry tree. A real
open fireplace is set in the wall giving a beautiful atmosphere to
both the lounge and dining room, where the lovely oak table looks
onto the American kitchen, which in turn has access to the 2500m2
mature terraced garden. There is a cloakroom and wc on this level.
The 200m2 house is set within a beautiful 2500m2 garden. The views
from the house are down over the wooded Gorge du Loup and up to the
mountains of Les Courmettes. The terraced garden is surrounded by
huge pink oleander bushes, ensuring total privacy with olive trees
on the lower terraces and orange trees by the house. The dining
terrace is shaded by a mulberry tree and a large fig tree grows
beside the pool. Unusual clay statues and 5 sunloungers are found
by the pool, which has steps down into the inviting water (10m x 4m
x 1.95m – no shallow end) for easy access. A total of 3 exterior
dining areas feature lovely teak or wrought iron furniture with
plenty of chairs. There is a free-standing gas BBQ on the dining
terrace. Washing-machine Dish-washer Tumble-dryer American

The road on which the property sits continues up the mountain to
the nature reserve of the Domaine de Courmettes where they make
wonderful goats cheese at the farm. It is also a centre for
holistic healing, with yoga courses and other activities. It is a
fantastic area for hikers with many trails starting here and with
breathtaking views. Another good viewpoint is the village of
Gourdons at 758m with a Chateau and gardens designed by Le Notre
and a view of the coastline from Nice to Antibes. The charming and
beautifully preserved village of Tourrettes sur Loup often known as
‘Village des Violettes’ is 6km from the property and is built
on a rocky outcrop on the small road between Vence (apprx 5 mins)
and Grasse (apprx 20 mins). It is the perfect place for total
relaxation with winding little cobbled paths through the village,
delightful restaurants and cafes as well as bakeries, grocery
shops, butchers and even a little market on Wednesday mornings. The
village has become a centre of art and there are many galleries and
workshops to explore. The village celebrates the festival of St.
Arnoux and St. Madeleine in July with a fireworks display and ball
on the 14th July. The Festival de la Musique takes place over July
and August and there is also the ‘Fetes des Violettes’ in
March. Golf course apprx 12km Horse riding apprx 12km Canoe hire
